Sewer FAQ

 

 

When will the project begin and be completed?

The sewer project is expected to begin in early 2020.

 

What is the route of the proposed sewer project?

The proposed route for the sewer project will start at Friendsville Elementary School along North Farnum and South Farnum then along Hwy 321. Sewer Route Map

 

Will there be any Waste Water Treatment Plants? 

No. There will not be any Waste Water Treatment Plants. All of the sewage collected will be pumped to a neighboring utility. 

 

What will the minimum bill for sewer be? 

It is still too early to determine what the minimum bill for sewer will be. However, the bill will be as low as possible to cover the cost of operation and maintenance of the system. It is projected to be less than the average water bill. 

 

What will it cost to connect to the sewer system?

It is still too eary to determine the cost to connect to the sewer system.

 

Do I have to connect to the sewer? 

No. You do not have to connect to the sewer system. However, if the sewer is adjacent to your property their will be a sewer inprovment fee. 

 

What areas in the City will get sewer after the intial project? 

Those areas have not been identified yet. 

 

Will my property be messed up during construction? 

Some property will be disturbed during construction. If so, the sewer department will correct those landscaping issues. 

 

Will there be traffic delays or congestion and where? 

Its anticipated that traffic may be re-routed along N. Farnum during construction. Construction for that area is planned when school is out for summer break. 

 

Will I be responsible for the sewer pump or tank on my side of the connection? 

Right now it is the plan for customers to maintain the pump on their side of the sewer connection much like water customers are responsible for their side of the meter.  This reduces the cost of operation and maintenance for the department and helps keep the sewer bill at a minimum.
